Applications Being Accepted For Second Phase of Meheula Vista Affordable Senior Rentals

HONOLULU, HAWAI‘I (September 19, 2017) – Tenant applicants are now being accepted for the second phase of the Meheula Vista senior affordable rental housing development in Mililani Mauka. A program of Catholic Charities Hawai‘i, the project is being developed by Catholic Charities Housing Development Corporation (“CCHDC”) and managed by Locations LLC.

Meheula Vista provides low-income seniors with an affordable permanent living option and offers complementary amenities, where residents can “age in place.” Located at the corner of Meheula Parkway and Lehiwa Drive in Mililani Mauka, Meheula Vista serves seniors with annual incomes of 60 percent or less of the area median income, or approximately $43,980 for one person, or $50,220 for two persons.

The second phase of the Meheula Vista complex, which includes 75 one-bedroom, one-bath units, is scheduled for completion by the end of 2017, with first occupancy scheduled for Spring 2018. Among the amenities are fully equipped kitchens, picnic area, community room, beautifully landscaped common areas, coin-operated laundry, and an on-site resident manager.

The application deadline is October 15, with a lottery scheduled for late November. To request an application, visit Catholic Charities Hawaii at 1822 Ke‘eaumoku Street, call (808) 524-4673 or visit www.CatholicCharitiesHawaii.org.

The first housing phase of Meheula Vista – which opened late last year – is now fully occupied. There will be a total of four phases, and once complete, the complex will feature four apartment buildings with a total of 300 senior housing units, a multi-purpose building designed for resident activities and 143 on-site parking stalls. Limited on-site parking is $50 per month. Street parking is not permitted.

“We’re excited to welcome our next phase of senior residents at Meheula Vista,” said CCHDC President Rick Stack. “As Hawai‘i’s population continues to age, it is more important than ever to provide our kupuna with affordable rental options and Meheula Vista helps fill this gap.”

Tours of Meheula Vista are available by calling (808) 626-9162.

Incorporated in 1999 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization operating as a subsidiary of Catholic Charities Hawai‘i, CCHDC owns, develops, and manages real estate properties with the intent to provide affordable housing for families, the elderly, special needs individuals and other socially or economically disadvantaged persons.
