Catholic Charities Hawaii Launches "10 in '10” Campaign to Assist with Capital Fundraising Efforts

Posted on 1/26/2010

HONOLULU, HI (January 25, 2010) – With $10 million left to raise in its aggressive $28 million capital campaign, Catholic Charities Hawai‘i has launched a “10 in ‘10” – $10 million in 2010 – initiative to complete its fundraising goals. The “10 in ‘10” donations will help to fund the acquisition and renovation of the new Catholic Charities Hawai‘i Clarence T. C. Ching Campus, a project that will build an integrated and welcoming permanent home for the organization.

Through tremendous support from government, foundations, corporations and individuals, the organization has achieved over 60 percent of its campaign goal.  To ensure the final goal of $28 million is met, a “10 in ‘10” committee has been formed, spearheaded by business leaders Larry Rodriguez and Roger Wall.

“We’ve already reached many significant milestones in our capital campaign, and are confident we can raise our final $10 million in 2010,” said Jerry Rauckhorst, Catholic Charities Hawai‘i President and CEO. “The new campus allows our organization to consolidate programs and services to increase efficiencies, strengthen and expand efforts, and develop new models and strategies to address the growing needs in Hawai‘i’s communities.”

Once completed, the 2.2-acre campus will house the organization’s Program Center.  The commercial kitchen, 5,000-square foot multi-purpose community hall, and meeting rooms on the property will be made available to other non-profits.  Other resources and amenities will include interview rooms, classrooms, office space, and a 10-unit apartment building for transitional housing programs.
