Seniors Thrive in a Volunteer Environment

Volunteers have always been an integral part of Catholic Charities Hawaii’s Lanakila Multi-Purpose Senior Center. The Center offers recreation, education, and social interaction to nearly 2,000 members. The seniors share that they play, learn and give back to the Center as volunteers.

A volunteer appreciation event for the members was held at our Lanakila Multi-Purpose Senior Center on April 18, where 200 volunteers were honored guests.

We express our deep and sincere appreciation to our volunteers: devoted club officers and assistants; instructors of our 40 classes and groups; photographer, researcher, front desk, kitchen, facility and grounds maintenance, entertainment, sound and technical support, money counter, lei/craft making, blood pressure taking, and manicure volunteers. Our sincere gratitude to the members of the Center’s Program Committee and Policy Advisory Board and the many quiet acts of giving by Lanakila Seniors every day.

MAHALO to Dustin Ebesu, Shane Shiroma, Evan Ching, Ellen’s Ukulele Group, Lorraine’s Line Dancing Group, Lance Rae, Augie Tulba, Terry Walsh, Bobby Moderow, Carnation Naki, Stacey Gaspar, Jade Glover, Joy Shimizu, Sharon Arakaki, Royal Hawaii Band Glee Club, LMPSC staff and volunteers, the AARP crew and many others who made it a special day!
