Seniors Keep Busy and Connected at CCH’s Senior Center

In the heart of Kalihi, CCH’s Lanakila Multi-Purpose Senior Center (LMPSC) is humming with activity this summer! In addition to the numerous classes and activities, we held our second annual E-Waste Recycling Drive on July 14 and collected several truckloads of ewaste, a mountain of HI5 recyclables, boxes of clothing and non-perishable food items and more! All proceeds from redeemable recyclable items will go to various non-profit organizations involved in the event, including LMPSC.

Mahalo to our community volunteers and food collection donors: Rene Mansho (Go Green Coordinator), Notre Dame Alumni, Loyola Marymount Alumni, Territorial Savings, Roosevelt High School Leo Club, Chinatown Lions, Council Member Carol Fukunaga, Senator Karl Rhoads, Lanakila Multi-Purpose Senior Center staff, LMPSC Men’s and Women’s Shed Program, Senator Donna Mercado Kim, Representative Takashi Ohno, Representative, Sylvia Luke, Representative Romy Cachola and Hawaiian Memorial/Borthwick Mortuary.

The seniors also had an opportunity to meet candidates running for public office on July 17 at LMPSC’s Candidates Fair which is held each election year. Just a reminder to you all that the state primary election this year is on Saturday, August 11. Mahalo to all the candidates who participated in the forum!
