Catholic Charities Hawai‘i and Ward Village Team up for 25th Year of Annual Senior Giving Tree Project

HONOLULU, HAWAI‘I (November 23, 2021) – For the 25th consecutive year, Catholic Charities Hawai‘i (CCH) and Ward Village are collaborating again to make this holiday season special for local seniors through its annual Ward Senior Giving Tree Project.

From this Wednesday, November 24 through December 13, visit the Senior Giving Tree at Ward Village in Kaka‘ako to select an ornament with a kupuna’s gift wish listed. The tree will be located this year in Logos Bookstore at Ward Centre, next to Genki Sushi.

There are over 300 “wishes” so far made by seniors that CCH hopes can be met this year. The unwrapped gifts must be returned by December 13 to designated drop-off points outside the Island Olive Oil Company and Roger Dunn Golf Hawaii stores, which are also located at Ward Centre.

Now in its 25th year, the Ward Senior Giving Tree project through community support has provided over 11,500 gifts for CCH’s senior clients.

“We want to thank Ward Village for their longstanding tradition in providing gifts and joy for our kupuna during this special time of year, particularly when many of them were asked to stay at home during the pandemic,” said Catholic Charities Hawai‘i CEO and President Rob Van Tassell. “During this season of giving, we are grateful for the public’s generosity in remembering all of those in need.”
