Recently, the Rotary Club of Honolulu Sunset gathered at the Waikiki Yacht Club for an evening meeting focused on fellowship, community service, and the exchange of ideas.
Club President Daniel “Dan” Murariu welcomed Tina Andrade, President and CEO of Catholic Charities Hawai‘i, as the featured guest speaker.
Tina shared an overview of Catholic Charities Hawai‘i’s mission and the many programs that serve individuals and families across the islands. From housing assistance and senior services to immigration support, veterans services, family strengthening, and programs for those experiencing homelessness, she highlighted the organization’s commitment to helping people achieve stability, dignity, and hope.
Following her remarks, Tina engaged Rotary members in a thoughtful question and answer session. The conversation explored the growing needs across Hawai‘i and the ways organizations, service clubs, and individuals can work together to create lasting impact.
The evening reflected Rotary’s guiding motto, “Service Above Self.” Founded in 1995, the Rotary Club of Honolulu Sunset was Hawai‘i’s first evening Rotary club and continues to bring together business, professional, and community leaders committed to service.
Over the years, the club has supported numerous initiatives, including volunteer service with The Pantry to help feed local families, as well as more recent projects supporting Women In Need, U.S. VETS at Barbers Point, holiday shopping with HUGS, and training support for Oahu Search and Rescue, among many others.
Catholic Charities Hawai‘i is grateful for the opportunity to share its work and to connect with community leaders who are deeply committed to service and strengthening Hawai‘i’s communities.
