Catholic Charities Hawaii Immigration Program Honored

The American Immigration Lawyers Association, Hawaii Chapter (HAILA) recently recognized Catholic Charities Hawaii as a 2019 Pro Bono Champion for their commitment in providing access to justice to low-income immigrants in Hawaii.

“Catholic Charities Hawaii has provided essential services to Hawaii’s low-income immigrants for many years,” said Stella Shimamoto, Chair of HAILA. “This work was about helping immigrants understand and comply with our nation’s immigration laws.”

CCH handles about 200 immigrant-related cases per year, providing assistance with immigration-related issues such as naturalization, I-130 petitions, removal of conditional status, travel visas, and change of status, as well as offering free English as a Second Language (ESL) and Citizenship classes on Oahu.
