Catholic Charities Hawai‘i (CCH) has named Anh Nguyen as its Chief Operating Officer (COO), where he will be responsible for overseeing the organization’s day-to-day operations.
Anh will take over the COO position previously held by current CCH president and CEO Tina Andrade.
“Catholic Charities Hawai‘i has long been a beacon of hope and resilience for our community,” said Tina Andrade. “Anh’s appointment strengthens our ability to advance our mission: preserving our culture, honoring all who call Hawai‘i home, and protecting our most vulnerable neighbors.”
Anh brings over 25 years of international experience in humanitarian and development operations, focusing on managing programs that advance social and economic progress. At the International Organization for Migration (IOM), he held several senior leadership roles across its headquarters in Switzerland and field missions in Ukraine and Austria—including serving as Chief of Mission in Ukraine, Head of the Migrant Protection and Assistance Division, and leading key global initiatives focusing on assistance to vulnerable populations, including victims of trafficking. Most recently, he led IOM’s global engagement with donors, focusing on mobilizing resources to advance IOM’s strategic priorities and long-term impact.
“I am thrilled to join an organization that is committed to serving our most vulnerable throughout our state,” said Anh, who has family in Hawai‘i and calls Kauai home. “To be able to align my personal mission to serve the community with CCH’s philosophy of helping those most in need is an opportunity I look forward to.”
In addition to his work at IOM, Nguyen has held managerial positions at InterVarsity Christian Fellowship (Ukraine), Altitude Software Inc., and Pacific Gas and Electric Corporation, further broadening his expertise in organizational development and operations.
Nguyen holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration with a focus on International Business and Finance from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln and a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from the University of California, Santa Cruz.
