Chan Zuckerberg Kaua‘i Community Fund of Hawai‘i Community Foundation Provides Grant to Catholic Charities Hawai‘i

LIHUE, KAUAI (May 6, 2020) — Dr. Priscilla Chan and Mark Zuckerberg’s Chan Zuckerberg Kaua‘i Community Fund of Hawai‘i Community Foundation has provided a grant to Catholic Charities Hawai‘i (CCH) to assist Kaua‘i residents suffering financially from the COVID-19 situation.

In response to the ongoing pandemic situation, the grant money will further CCH’s efforts to directly assist those financially impacted by the COVID-19 economic downturn.

“Many thanks to the Hawai‘i Community Foundation and to Dr. Priscilla Chan and Mark Zuckerberg for their generous gift that will aid so many during these challenging times,” said Catholic Charities Hawai‘i CEO and President Robert Van Tassell. “We continue to assist Kaua‘i residents affected by this sudden and devastating economic downturn, thanks to this donation and by so many others.”

CCH received a grant from the Hawai‘i Community Foundation’s Hawai‘i Resilience Fund in April to aid Kaua‘i residents and this added contribution will enhance our efforts with the extended stay-at-home order, Van Tassell said.

Kaua‘i residents seeking assistance can contact Catholic Charities Hawaii’s Līhu‘e office at (808) 241-4673 (HOPE) to see if they qualify. CCH staff will provide those inquiring with information on the application process and required documentation.

Those wishing to make a donation to Catholic Charities Hawai‘i can visit www.catholiccharitieshawaii.org/support/donate/ or call (808) 527-4820.
