It was a winning weekend for the University of Hawai‘i Rainbow Wahine volleyball team and a heartwarming one for our kūpuna community. On Saturday night at Stan Sheriff Center, fans were treated to more than exciting volleyball — the halftime show featured a special performance by the Happy Senior Serenaders, all proud members of Lanakila Multi-Purpose Senior Center.
The Serenaders sang and danced to the uplifting local favorite “E Huli Makou,” filling the arena with joy, laughter, and aloha. Their energy and talent lit up Kupuna Nite, honoring the vibrance and contributions of Hawai‘i’s older adults.
The celebration didn’t stop there. On Sunday, the Rainbow Wahine capped off the weekend by sweeping St. John’s, powered by a spectacular performance from the service line, and claimed the OUTRIGGER Invitational title at Bankoh Arena.
From championship volleyball to a spirited kūpuna performance, the weekend was a reminder of what makes Hawai‘i so special: the strength of community, culture, and aloha that connect generations.
Mahalo to the Happy Senior Serenaders for sharing your talents, and congratulations to the Rainbow Wahine for another inspiring win!
