Lanakila Senior Center’s “Show and Sell” Brings Community Together in Celebration of Kūpuna Creativity

Last week, the Lanakila Multi-Purpose Senior Center buzzed with energy as more than 400 kūpuna and community members came together for its lively “Show and Sell” event. The center brimmed with the sights, sounds, and aromas of handmade crafts, delicious baked goods, and cultural treats—all lovingly created and sold by the seniors themselves.

Kūpuna from Kahala Nui joined the festivities, adding even more richness to the diversity of talent and community spirit on display.

Each participating class and club hosted their own table, showcasing unique creations and specialty foods. Proceeds from each table support the individual club or class, with a portion benefiting the senior center’s programs and services.

One of the day’s standout hits was the Okinawan Club’s famous andagi—over 1,800 pieces made fresh on-site and sold out in record time. The sweet, golden treats proved to be a crowd favorite and a shining example of the club’s dedication and culinary skill.

More than just a marketplace, “Show and Sell” was a joyful celebration of culture, connection, and the vibrant spirit of our kūpuna.

The next Show and Sell event will be held on October 8.
