Catholic Charities Hawai‘i Transportation Services Program
Jake, originally from Nebraska, moved to Hawai‘i to escape the cold and found his true calling with Catholic Charities Hawai‘i. Before joining the team, he worked for seven years as a substitute teacher at Moanalua High, Radford High, and Aliamanu Middle School. In 2024, he decided to leave education and follow a new calling to serve others. Leaving the kids in the rearview mirror was difficult, but he felt the tug to join an organization with a mission rooted in the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Now in his seventh month with the Catholic Charities Hawai‘i Transportation Services Program (TSP), it’s clear Jake has found work he truly loves. “Connecting with seniors, hearing their stories, and listening to gospel music on the road truly brings joy to my heart,” Jake shares.
Each week, he takes seniors on fun outings to Walmart, Kahala Mall, Sandy Beach, and even miniature golfing—turning everyday trips into joyful adventures filled with smiles and laughter.

As one of the TSP drivers, Jake helps serve senior residents across Oʻahu. Through these simple acts of kindness, he’s making a big difference in the lives of so many kūpuna, ensuring they stay active, connected, and loved.
For Jake, it’s not just about driving—it’s about building relationships and making every senior feel valued.
