“Shop With a Cop” Program on the Big Island

Catholic Charities Hawaii and our community partners coordinated the annual “Shop With A Cop” program on Hawaii Island held earlier this month to provide Christmas gifts to at-risk youth, with events held at the Target stores in Kona and Hilo.

This collaborative, community building effort teamed up Hawaiʻi Police Department officers with teens and young children during the holidays, to build positive relationships with law enforcement while shopping for meaningful gifts for the youth and their families for an extra special Christmas.

Special thanks to the Hawaii Police Department, Target Stores, Hawaii County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, National Park Service, Veterans of Foreign War Auxiliary, Hawaii Electric Light Co., LV SNAPS, St. Michael the Archangel Church, Kona, Annunciation Parish, Kamuela, Creative Arts, Jei Angel Digital Design, Pacific Solar, St. Joseph Church, Catholic Charities Hawaii staff and to the many volunteers who made the special for the youth who participated. This year marks 20 years of Shop with a Cop in Kona!
