This Valentine’s Day, seniors at senior housing communities served by Catholic Charities Hawaiʻi’s Case Management Program (CMP) received a special reminder that they are loved and valued.
Through the annual Cupid Crew initiative organized by AARP’s Wish of a Lifetime program, beautiful roses were delivered to older adults across the country to brighten their Valentine’s Day. Catholic Charities Hawaiʻi was honored to help bring that joy to kūpuna in our community.
After receiving the flowers on February 11, CMP staff personally distributed nearly 200 roses on Thursday and Friday ahead of Valentine’s Day. What may seem like a simple gesture carried deep meaning. For many seniors, especially those who may feel isolated, a single rose and a warm smile can be a powerful reminder that they are not forgotten.
Residents were surprised and delighted. Some shared stories of past Valentine’s Days, others expressed heartfelt gratitude — and many simply beamed as they accepted their flowers.
Catholic Charities Hawaiʻi’s Case Management Program continues to serve seniors with compassion and dignity, ensuring they remain connected, supported, and cared for. We are grateful to AARP’s Wish of a Lifetime for helping us spread love and aloha this Valentine’s season.
Because everyone deserves to feel remembered.
