Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF)
Catholic Charities Hawaiʻi offers the Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) program to assist Veterans and their families in finding temporary or long-term housing and achieving housing stability.
Program Purpose:
The SSVF program helps homeless Veterans or those at risk of homelessness — and their families — by providing resources and housing-focused supports for transitional or long-term housing. The program is funded by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
Services Under SSVF Include:
- Client case management
- Housing search assistance
- Landlord mediation
- Temporary financial assistance
- Connection to VA services, Social Security benefits, and related health care services
- Assistance with obtaining public benefits, personal financial planning services, legal services, and employment support
Eligibility Requirements:
To qualify for SSVF, participants must:
- Be a military Veteran family — either a single person who is a Veteran or a family in which the head of household or the spouse is a Veteran.
- Have a household income at or below 80% of the area median income (AMI) (adjusted for Hawaiʻi cost of living).
- Be homeless and prepared to move into permanent housing within 90 days, or be at risk of losing current permanent housing.
