Statewide Resource Families (SRF) Program

Statewide Resource Families (SRF) Program

Supporting Hawai‘i’s Resource Caregivers, Guardians, and Adoptive Families

Catholic Charities Hawai‘i is proud to partner with the Department of Human Services (DHS) to deliver the Statewide Resource Families (SRF) Program—a comprehensive support system for those who open their hearts and homes to Hawai‘i’s keiki.

We provide services across all islands: O‘ahu, Maui, Lana‘i, Moloka‘i, Kaua‘i, East Hawai‘i, and West Hawai‘i. Whether you’re just starting your journey or have years of experience, we are here to guide and support you.

What We Do

Pre-Service Training

We offer H.A.N.A.I. (Hawai‘i Assures Nurturing and Involvement) Pre-Service Trainings, which are required for all child-specific and general licensed resource caregivers in Hawai‘i. Assessment services and pre-service training (H.A.N.A.I) are by DHS referral only.

On-Going Training

We provide ongoing training for Licensed Resource Caregivers, Legal Guardianship Families, & Adoptive Families. These trainings address real-world topics and challenges faced in the foster care community.

Support Groups

Our general and targeted support groups create safe spaces for families to share experiences, receive and offer emotional support, & build connections with others on similar paths.

‘Ohana Navigator Program

Personalized guidance from trained navigators who assist families through the licensing and foster care journey. We offer ongoing trainings, support groups, and access to the Warmline for licensed resource caregivers, legal guardians, and adoptive caregivers—no referral needed.

Assessment

CCH conducts home studies for General Licensed and Child Specific Resource Caregivers referred by DHS. This is an integral process in the identification of families who are capable and willing to work collaboratively with DHS and the child’s birth family in supporting the best permanency solution for the child.

Outreach

We help connect families with community resources, licensing assistance, & one-on-one support from peer mentors (based on availability).
