Hawaiʻi Island Programs & Services

Getting appropriate social services on Hawai‘i Island has its physical challenges with the long distances in-between. Our Catholic Charities Hawai‘i offices in Hilo and Kona work with other Hawai‘i Island agencies to provide the following:

  • Temporary financial assistance to families facing financial hardship
  • A broad range of services to children and their families to prevent and treat child abuse (Kona Office only)
  • Individual, couples, and family counseling (Hilo Office only)
  • Case management dealing with foster care and relative placement services

Community Assistance Program

Provides referrals to CCH programs and partners within CCH’s community network, as well as limited financial assistance to families facing temporary financial hardship typically related to urgent housing needs, such as rent, deposits and utilities.

General Immigration Servcies

We advocate for immigrant rights and assist to reunite immigrant families by providing help to prepare and file the appropriate documents to stabilize immigration status and access to English as a Second Language (ESL) and citizenship classes.

Foster or Relative Placement Services

We provide home study and case management services for children who are being reunified with biological parents or who are being considered for foster or relative placement. We also monitor and ensure safe and stable placement of children in foster or relative care.

Comprehensive Counseling & Support Services

Provides a broad range of services to children and their families to prevent and treat child abuse. Services include counseling, outreach services, parenting education classes, supervised visitation, transportation and Voluntary Case Management.

Counseling Services

Offers individual, couples, and family counseling to promote healthy relationships and reduce individual and family distress. Services address issues such as depression, anxiety, stress, grief, abuse, trauma, family problems, relationship issues, wellness, and more.

Voluntary Case Management Program

Provides case management services, intervention and outreach to children and families referred by DHS when risk of abuse or neglect is identified; participation is voluntary and they are not under the jurisdiction of Family Court.

ESG COVID Housing Assistance Program

Provides financial assistance to households on Hawaiʻi Island that have been hit hardest by the COVID-19 pandemic.
