Thanks to the generous support of donors like you, Catholic Charities Hawai‘i (CCH), through its Lanakila Multi-Purpose Senior Center (LMPSC) program, hosted a meaningful Veteran’s Day celebration honoring local veterans. LMPSC has over 170 veterans as members, and 31 attended this year’s gathering.
Your support helps create moments of connection, gratitude, and dignity for those who served. This year, students from Kaimuki Christian School added a special touch by creating heartfelt cards for each veteran—reminding them that their service is remembered and appreciated by the next generation.
The celebration featured remarks from Lieutenant Colonel John P. Alamodin, Director of the Office of Veterans Services, State of Hawaii, along with community leaders Stan Olayan, Gil Olayan, and Linda Maballo. Gifts and leis were presented by Iris Hiramoto, LMPSC Membership Specialist, with assistance from LTC John P. Alamodin, Yolanda Ehere, Past Exalted Ruler of the Honolulu Elks Lodge Calvin Hara, CCH President and CEO Tina Andrade, and LMPSC Director Susie Chun Oakland.
A special musical performance was offered by Hiroshi Kato and Friends, featuring Na Koa Lele, a song Hiroshi wrote to honor his own military experiences and the friends he served with and lost. The program also included a prayer by Walter Miyashiro, followed by lunch from Natsunoya Tea House and entertainment by Gordon and Sandy Young.
Your generosity helps us honor Hawai‘i’s veterans, support kūpuna, and strengthen the spirit of aloha in our community.
Catholic Charities Hawai‘i salutes all veterans—with a big mahalo for your service!
Last year, with support from donors like you, Catholic Charities Hawai‘i helped 5,525 kūpuna across the islands stay connected, healthy, and supported—ensuring our seniors continue to live with dignity and aloha.
Thank you for making this impact possible.
