Recently, Catholic Charities Hawai‘i spent time with Manoa Cub Scout Pack 33, sharing stories of courage, love, and compassion — and what it means to live their Duty to God every day.
The Scouts learned about:
Mary Jane Home, where moms and babies find safety, love, and strength.
Koastal Kids, which supports homeless children with care, counseling, and hope.
Hale Mālama Foster Care and Baby Ruben’s inspiring journey to healing and joy.
Lanakila Multi-Purpose Senior Center, where kūpuna stay active, connected, and full of aloha.
But the most beautiful part came afterward.
During this season of giving, each Scout chose the program that touched their heart the most. They donated $1, not because they had to — but because they wanted to help.
They also created thank you cards filled with drawings, kindness, and powerful messages like:
“Helping other people”
“Giving a friend a hug when they are sad”
“Helping the mommies have a safe place to stay and help their babies”
“Kindness and thoughtfulness”
These small hands shared big hearts. The Scouts learned that Duty to God means loving others, caring for those in need, including everyone, and spreading goodness wherever they go.
Catholic Charities Hawai‘i is deeply grateful to Pack 33 for their generosity, empathy, and aloha. They didn’t just learn about Duty to God — they lived it.
